Mission (ENG)

The activities of the laboratory involve the study of both systems control applications and innovative strategies and algorithms for flexible resource management in real-time systems and networks. The main aim is to define resource allocation policies (regarding CPU time or bandwidth, depending on contexts) that are flexible and achieve a good trade-off between timeliness and efficiency, accepting, where possible, limited performance degradation for soft real-time activities. Several applications in various areas, including embedded and wireless systems supporting communication in the factory and home automation, have been analyzed and allowed the publication of several papers.

Studio di applicazioni per il controllo di sistemi e di strategie ed algoritmi innovativi per una gestione flessibile delle risorse nei sistemi e nelle reti real-time.  L'obiettivo è definire politiche di allocazione delle risorse (intese in termini di tempo di CPU o di larghezza di banda, a seconda dei contesti) che siano flessibili e realizzino un buon compromesso tra rispetto dei vincoli temporali (timeliness) ed efficienza, accettando ove possibile un limitato degrado di prestazioni per attività real-time di tipo soft. Sono state investigate e sono tuttora in esame applicazioni in vari settori, tra i quali i sistemi embedded e wireless a supporto della comunicazione nell'automazione di fabbrica e nella domotica.
