A resident of Terre Haute, Indiana, Jerry is a professor emeritus at Indiana State University and an internationally recognized leader in the development and delivery of distance process control and automation programs.
Gerald has been an ISA Member for the past 26 years. Jerry served as ISA President in 2009. He is currently a Member of the Indianapolis Section. He has vast experience in Section, District, Department, and Society activities, including the ISA Executive Board as District 6 Vice President and Professional Development Department Vice President. Jerry is a strong supporter of student activities, has served as Chair of ISA’s International Student Competition Committee and spearheaded the development of the Society’s scholarship program.
Gerald is a Certified Automation Professional and has received numerous awards, including the Eckman Award in 2006. He earned his Doctorate degree from Indiana University in 1984 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation in St. Petersburg Russia.
Dr. Cockrell has written numerous articles on automation and project management. His book published by ISA, Practical Project Management: Learning to Manage the Professional is presently being revised to a 2nd edition due to be released in early 2012.
